Hello;

I started at the College of Charleston in August of 2014 with the sole intention of pursuing a one degree. Now in my fourth year, I am on my way to having three: B.A. in Music Theory/Compostion, English/Creative Writing, and German/German Studies. It has been a journey, but successfully managing three degrees has developed my multitasking and time management skills, and gave me the chance to make meaningful connections. After graduating, I plan to further my studies in English/German overseas and pursue a career in Technical/Grant writing while developing my craft as a novelist.

An important part of any technical writer's profession, is usability. and an important component that went into the design of this website.

What is  Usability?

Usability is a term used to describe how easily a specified product can be navigated by the user. For our e-portfolio/website, the targeted audience would be potential employers in the technical writing field, and because I would like to highlight extra skills I have, (grant/proposal writing, translation) I would make sure my portfolio caters to those fields specifically. It is assumed that hiring is not the main task of an employer, and this is to be kept in mind when designing my website. For instance, it isn’t ideal for someone to spend 30min on my website looking for information. For a usability test I would ask questions regarding how easy it wasn’t to find information about me, what are my skills, HOW LONG did it take to find information, was there anything that you didn’t read or found unnecessary, was there anything you wish you had more information about, etc.
